Isn't all our lives filled with circumstances meant to draw us closer to Him?

All of our lives are filled with activity that strives to meet some particular search for inner satisfaction, whether it be social, sexual, or psychological.

The truth is that anything that gives me life and fills me with excitement and meets some passion which is not met by a real connection with God reflects the reality that I am not always in a real pursuit for God.

Then God has to pursue my one more time to bring me to the place wherre I am bowing my knee and my heart seeking forgiveness and grace to continue some other pursuit.

...sounds like the definition of sanctification. Sometimes I think of the prodical story though, where the son needed to "finally" have a heart of humility and repentance and "start-back" toward the Father...ie the Father didn't really chase but was eagerly willing to embrace the changed heart.

Yes, I suppose that this is one perspective as well.

Somewhere between my responsibility to pursue purity (He will tell secrets to those close to Him) and His "forever" care (My life is hidden with Christ, in God) is likely the right path.

I am thankful, however, that His jealousy for me is not dependent upon my immediate condition. I am also grateful that He will discipline me when needed as a tool to draw me back to Him.
